Laura Gilpin
American, 1891-1979

Laura Gilpin studied at the Clarence White School of Photography before returning home to Colorado Springs to begin her career. This booklet on the town's progressive nursery school was one of her first commissions. She designed the book herself, in addition to illustrating it with her own photographs. Gilpin would go on to a distinguished career as a photographer, known especially for her sensitive portraits of the landscape and peoples of the American Southwest.
