Online Exhibits

While it is common to think of an archives as a repository for paper, the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library also houses tens of thousands of audiovisual items including photographic images ranging from daguerreotypes to modern prints; sound recordings ranging from 78 rpm records to reel-to-reel tapes; and image recordings ranging from film to videotape. In addition to the gallery exhibit currently at Mudd Library, audiovisual highlights as well as some significant textual items from selected collections are now available online here.

The online exhibition, "Cased Images in the Princeton University Archives," highlights a portion of the cased image collection of daguerreotypes and ambrotypes that were part of a year-long conservation project at the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library. The exhibit addresses the conservation treatements, as well as the history of these images and their subjects. The condition of the cased images before their preservation treatment was such that they could not be handled; with the completion of this project, researchers may now study this valuable collection.
In this online exhibition we provide the music in sound and print of four famous Princeton songs: the Alma Mater 'Old Nassau,' 'The Orange and the Black,' 'Going Back,' and 'The Princeton Cannon Song'.

The centennial of the birth of Adlai Stevenson, Democratic candidate for President in 1952 and 1956, is celebrated in an exhibition entitled “A Voice of Conscience: The Legacy of Adlai Stevenson.” Portions of this exhibition, including audiovisual items, can be viewed here.
